Plitvice Lakes was proclaimed a national park in 1949 and in 1979 they were included in the UNESCO list of protected world heritage with the goal of preserving the exceptional natural riches. There is a total of 16 connected with spectacular water falls in a unique stair-like structure that changes colour from green to blue, composing a unique symphony of colours and playful sounds. The thick wilderness that surrounds Plitvice Lakes is rich with animal and plant life, and a walk along the promenade and sailing with the electric boats will take you deep into the world of the magical beauty of Plitvice Lakes.

The tour of Plitvice Lakes finishes by buying some authentic souvenirs and tasting some traditional specialties of the Lika cuisine in one of the local restaurants.     The so-called "English-speaking" guide barely spoke any English. Groups are too big. The guide provided no information about the place while we were there - the only thing she did was give out some brochures which themselves were not comprehensive at all.

    Wir haben die Reise vor Ort gebucht. War eine sehr schöne Reise. Man sieht viel vom Land, schöne Gegend. Die Wasserfälle sind einmalig. Man muss das gesehen haben. Sehr empfehlenswert.

    Wunderschöner Ausflug. Die Zeit ist ein wenig knapp. Man muss gut zu Fuß sein.

    Man muss sich vorstellen das der Ausflug insgesamt über 16 Stunden dauert. Gut es ist halt eine Distanz zu bewältigen, aber man sitzt fast 11 Stunden im Bus und in Plitvice hat man maximal 3,5 Stunden Zeit. In dieser Zeit ist man nur am Gehen. Keine Zeit die traumhafte Natur zu genießen. Nicht mal Zeit in Ruhe ein Foto zu machen. Sonst verliert man den Anschluss zum Reiseleiter. Also wenn man Plitvice besuchen will, lieber auf eigene Faust.
