Brijuni consists of 14 islands that are famous for their preserved natural beauties and historical richness. The islands used to the residency of the Yugoslavian President Josip Broz Tito who enjoyed the zoo with numerous exotic animals such as zebras, camels and elephants, of which a part today freely walk the park. The most significant archaeological richness are the remains of a Roman rustic villa from the 1st century on Island Veli Brijun. We should also single out the Gothic church of St. German from the 15th century.
The day finishes by seeing the exhibition “Tito at the Brijuni Islands” which offers a unique view of the interesting part of the history of Istria. Visit the National Park Brijuni and enjoy mingling with wild animals from all part of the world in the heart of Europe. The journey to Brijuni Islands is available by boat or by bus.
